A Final Message [9/23/02]

After 5 1/2 years and 230 shows, it is with tears of jelly that I must inform you all that I am stepping down as DJ of Friggin Here, and into something shittier. After 9 (that's 1001 in binary) long years, I have finally earned my degree in Advanced Paperclip Theory, and will be moving on.

This however does NOT mean the end of FRIGGIN HERE!! <--- read that.

Over the summer I was orbiting Mars and a fellow novelty fan and friend of mine covered for me. Although he doesn't type playlists or comb his hair, and can't really read, has 6 fingers on each hand, smells a bit, thinks Dee Dee Ramone is a good singer, and is jewish, he has faithfully done the show almost every week, and does almost as good a job as I did. Now that it is clear I won't be returning to Rochester, I have officially passed the torch to him. It will continue to air every Saturday, from noon - 2pm. I'm not sure what he calls himself on the air, but among other things, he has been called Whitesnake, Captain Crunch, Heywood Jablomey, and WITRDJ (on AIM).

Although I am now living in Connecticut, I make frequent trips back to Rochester, and work very closely with him, while he learns the music and gets into the groove (like that song). Please continue to send promo material to the same address, and for now I'll still be handling email for the show.

I, myself have not given up radio. I've been in it for 10 years, and plan to continue to work in radio for as long as I can. I obviously still have an interest in novelty music and may at a future date start another show.

A million pez go out to everyone who has sent me stuff in the past. Especially everyone who sent me stuff way back in the day before the show even had a name.

Another eight hundred and sixty five thousand pez go to all the people who came on the show live or did interviews, especially Tim Cavanagh, who came in live on the show when we were still on thursday night from 1 - 3 AM! That's hardcore; The Great Luke Ski for being on the show and producing incredible Station IDs for me, you of course rock; SNMNMNM for performing live on the show TWICE, and recognizing me in public;

Three hundred and twelve thousand, two hundred and fifty seven additional pez to the long list of other people who gave interviews, came on the show, sent me station IDs, called me personally, sent me fabulous prizes, called me Shirley, nearly missed me in Ohio (Faust & Lewis), offered interviews that I never got around to doing (Twang Bang, really sorry), put WITR station ID's on THEIR CDs (Doodoo Wah), mentioned my show in their liner notes (Arrogant Worms), taught me to sing backwards, took my money, and kicked me in the head and stole my pizza.

Fifteen thousand and one more pez for Lester McFwap for winning the award for producing the only ever *listener requested* station ID.

Six hundred pez to everyone else who cared enough to get this email.

And lastly to Devo Spice, the brains *cough* behind Sudden Death, my only ever co-host back in the early years, the guy who taunted me with rockstardome by letting me do backup vocals on his #1 hit "South Park Junkie", the guy whow was with me when I dressed as a Gumby and walked around the public library, the guy whose webpage one time played a sound clip while I was sitting in the computer lab and I couldn't shut it off, the guy I made get up early on saturdays just to sit in a basement and talk to me, to Devo Spice... I'd like if you gave me my pez back, please.
